Release notes for pre-alpha v1.1

Hello Stashers,

It’s been a busy few weeks over here and today we rolled out the last of a series of new features to cap off our first release since the launch. You may have noticed some of these changes already.

(And if we included you on this mailing list presumptively, please don’t hesitate to unsubscribe. We still like you.)

The current release, Stash pre-alpha version 1.1, includes:

  • The item’s ‘comments’ area was expanded to an ‘Article Timeline.’ This includes user actions like adding keywords and up/down votes. You can see an example here.
  • New interim layout for the item page (you can see this through the link above and on any item on the site).
  • The item summary font is nicer.
  • We’ve added a grey attribution bar that will include more info over time.
  • The upvote/downvote, personal and aggregate keywords have all been placed together on the righthand side of the page.
  • Cleared up labeling on the keyword fields.
  • Added a list of ‘first Stashers’ to the item page, which shows the users that first brought the item our attention.
  • Added a ‘submit as background item’ widget to the item page (right hand side), which allows you to submit the item as an ongoing reference for the keyword page, with a stable position on the bottom of the keyword page.
  • When you click on the headline of an item, you will now be taken to that item in a new tab.
  • Removed the ‘New, Recent, Background’ links on keyword pages. Those links were taking up too much space and introducing complexity.
  • Modified search button to ‘Search Keywords’ for clarity. When search is expanded to include other data types, like users and items, we’ll update the search button accordingly.
  • On the item page, we added a ‘flag as inappropriate’ button. Please use this if you think an item violates terms and conditions, or is pornographic, hateful, etc.
  • Welcomed Andy to the ‘About Us’ page.
  • Added a blog and periodic newsletter.
  • Login cookie duration was extended.
  • Fixes for “breadcrumb” links on item pages (zeroing out on non-keyword navigation, other improvements).
  • Ongoing work to improve our ability to properly summarize items from various sources.
